(16 June 2014, Kuala Lumpur) Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia (PNM) has unveiled Malaysia’s first Samsung SMART Library. Located at the first floor of the National Library’s main building this first of its kind digital-book reading zone results from a public-private partnership between PNM and Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd.
The Samsung SMART Library at PNM is poised to provide a new and interactive reading experience for Malaysians, especially children and youth, within an enhanced technology-enabled library environment.
Designed and built as an inviting space with eBooks, the 1,300 square feet area has four specific concepts – Kids, Interactive, Reading and Work. There are over 60 Samsung devices for users comprising different models of tablets and large format displays.
Over 2,500 eBook titles of various genres in English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese are available at the Reading Zone. Supplementary content such as eMagazines, eNewspapers and interactive websites can be accessed at the Interactive Zone. The Work Zone also offers Office Suite and -Book publishing for budding writers. Furthermore, software suitable for children is offered at Kids Zone.
