The National Diet Library and International Research Institute of Disaster Science, Tohoku University are pleased to announce a symposium on 11 January 2014 on the Great East Japan Earthquake Archive and how to apply the records of and lessons learned from the disaster to reconstruction of the affected area.
The symposium will feature lectures on “The Digital Archive of Japan’s 2011 Disasters” and “CEISMIC Canterbury Earthquake Digital Archive,” followed by case reports and discussion with people from the institutions and organizations involved in application of the records of the disaster.

- * On Thursday, January 9, the NDL will sponsor a “Seminar about the archives of earthquake disaster: From experiences of New Zealand Canterbury Earthquake and Great East Japan Earthquake” (Japanese) at the Auditorium, Annex, Tokyo Main Library, National Diet Library. Professor Paul Millar will lecture. NDL will broadcast live coverage of the lecture at the Tokyo Main Library to Seminar Room 1, Kansai-kan, National Diet Library.
