(19 Oct 2026) Jisc and Google have announced a two-year collaboration to help UK universities and colleges move beyond AI experimentation towards wider institutional adoption, with a focus on digital skills, governance and equitable access to emerging technologies.
The initiative aims to address challenges facing higher and further education institutions as they seek to integrate AI into teaching, learning, research and administrative operations. These include developing staff capabilities, establishing effective governance frameworks and demonstrating the impact of AI investment. The programme will include workshops, webinars, leadership engagement, practitioner communities and knowledge-sharing activities, with support covering technologies such as Google Gemini and NotebookLM.
A key element of the agreement is the creation of a dedicated Jisc reseller framework for Google Workspace for Education. This will provide institutions with a tailored procurement route and enable a wider range of selected Google partners to support the education sector.
