(18 Aug 2026) The government of Singapore, through its 2026 Consensus on Global AI Safety Research Priorities, is underscoring the need for AI researchers and practitioners to pay close attention to risks from increasingly prevalent AI agents as well as the marked growth of misuse incidents, such as AI-enabled cyber attacks.
According to Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the second Singapore Consensus is a significant milestone in AI safety, with more than 100 contributors spanning 13 countries, including frontier AI model developers, government safety institutes, academics and civil society.
By providing scientifically grounded research problems, the report will serve to inform research funding priorities, highlight areas for deeper research and act as a foundational document to spur further international dialogue and collaboration amongst scientists, developers, and policymakers.
