(10 Jul 2026) The National Health Commission released on Friday 28 cases of research misconduct involving data fabrication, paper trading and guest authorship.
The cases involve researchers from hospitals in Shanxi, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces, as well as Chongqing, the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
In one case, researchers from Shanxi Bethune Hospital in Taiyuan were found to have traded experimental data used in a research paper published in an international journal in March 2022. The lead authors of the study have been penalized, with punishments including being barred from participating in government‑funded research projects for three to 10 years and being disqualified from serving as peer reviewers for three to five years.
