(28 Apr 2026) Are you “intellectually curious”, like books, and fancy working on a multi-million-dollar estate in the South Island? Then this job could be for you.
Interest is being garnered for a new curator for a private “end of the world” library at Westhaven Estate in Mangarākau.
Curiously titled, the job, advertised by the Library and Information Association of New Zealand (LIANZA), is looking for someone to help design and build a private, long-term library.
The job is described as “not a traditional library role”, with the successful curator being asked to curate a “high-conviction” and “enduring” collection of books that would “remain meaningful” and “useful” under “extreme long-term scenarios”.
