(11 Feb 2026) OpenAI today announced the launch of Prism, a free, AI-native workspace designed to help scientists write, collaborate on, and prepare research for publication more efficiently.
Prism brings together drafting, editing, citation management, equations, and collaboration in a single, cloud-based environment. Built with native LaTeX support, the platform removes the need for complex local setups while enabling researchers to focus on their work rather than tooling.
At the core of Prism is deep integration with OpenAI’s latest language models, which assist researchers throughout the writing process. Within the context of a manuscript, AI can help draft and revise text, improve clarity and structure, and support reasoning and consistency checks, all while keeping authors in control.
Key features of Prism include real-time collaboration with unlimited co-authors, integrated citation and literature support, automated formatting and proofreading, and live document preview. Together, these capabilities are designed to reduce friction in common scientific workflows and streamline the path from initial draft to submission-ready manuscript.
Prism is available today at no cost to users with a personal ChatGPT account. Support for organizational users, including Business, Enterprise, Team, and Education plans, will be introduced in the near future.
