(15 Jul 2025) About the Role:
The Librarian (Patron Engagement) works collaboratively with the Patron Engagement team to provide excellent Library customer service to scholars and key influencers of the University by phone, online and face to face channels, and to ensure effective day to day operations of user spaces, including their presentation, and equipment.
Some of the key Position Responsibilities of this role are:
- Supporting the day-to-day operations and administration of the library user spaces, ensuring optimal standards of customer service, information services, presentation and operation.
- Assisting the Library Coordinator (Patron Engagement) in the promotion of a culture of customer service excellence and collaborative work practices.
- Supporting the Library Officers (Patron Engagement) to resolve complex enquiries, take ownership of issues through to resolution and escalate liaison difficult queries to the Coordinator.
- Contributing to the development of systems and processes required to inform and support the activities of the Patron Engagement team. 6. Contributing to a diverse range of the Library.
This position will suit someone with experience in an academic or research library who is client-focused, a big-picture thinker and innovative problem-solver. You should have a library-related degree (or have an equivalent education and experience), and be a great communicator, able to work independently and proactively contribute to teams and projects.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Extensive, relevant experience in an academic or research library.
- Proven experience in front line customer service where patience and resilience are key attributes.
- The ability to exercise initiative and judgement to resolve complex problems, determine and prioritise tasks, attend to detail and meet deadlines.
- Exemplary written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in both face- to-face and online environments
