(10 Feb 2023) Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Library and Information Sciences in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 519336), to commence on August 1, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of the second three-year fixed-term contract. Exceptionally outstanding candidates at Professor/Associate Professor level may be considered for appointment on tenure terms.
Applicants should possess (i) a Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Sciences or a closely related field; (ii) teaching and research experience in any relevant specialism of information retrieval, information resources and services, and/or library and information management; and (iii) a proven track record in, or strong potential for, research, scholarly publications and competitive external funding. An understanding of library and information sciences as they relate to education, knowledge of the local context, and leadership in curriculum/research would be strong advantages.
The appointee will be expected to teach courses offered in undergraduate and postgraduate programs related to information technology and education, and library and information management. He/She will also supervise research postgraduate students, contribute actively to research and knowledge exchange, and assume service/administrative responsibilities as appropriate. Those appointed at the senior level will also lead collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives in research and knowledge exchange, mentor and nurture the next generation of scholars and researchers, and assume high-level service/administrative responsibilities.
