(1 Apr 2021) ALIA has published a report, ALIA working for special libraries 2016-2021, which highlights the Association’s initiatives in supporting Australian special libraries over the last five years.
In 2016, at the ALIA National Conference in Adelaide, 28 leaders from special libraries in government, health, law, research and other fields came together to discuss the issues affecting the sector, with the aim of developing the basis for a collaborative national action plan.
From this summit came three strategic priorities which have guided the work of ALIA’s Special Libraries Working Group over the last five years. These were advocacy, mutual support, research and best practice. The document sets out how these three priorities have translated into new resources, networking events and learning experiences for ALIA Members.
One initiative to emerge from this work has been the Special Libraries Directory, updated twice a year. ALIA is currently preparing its content for the fourth edition, scheduled for publication in May 2021. We encourage all Australian special libraries to review their listing in the directory, and send us updated information or, if they have not yet been listed, submit their details for the directory. This can be done by filling out the survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ALIAspecials4
To be included in the fourth edition, we will need to receive all responses by 30 April 2021.
