To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Taiwan’s National Central Library an international conference was organized on the 18th and 19th of April 2013. The general theme was “A New Paradigm for Globalized Knowledge and Library Development.” On this occasion, the President of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou graced the meeting with his presence at the opening ceremony.
The first speaker of the conference was Ismail Serageldin, Director-general of the Library of Alexandrina, Egypt. He spoke on “Rebirth and Revolution: The Story of Bibliotheca Alexandria. He was followed by speakers from The Royal Library (Denmark), National Library of Latvia and the National Library of Mongolia. Other speakers came from the National Library of Vietnam, France, Russia and Singapore.
