(29 Dec 2019) The National Gallery of Australia seeks a dynamic, collaborative, experienced librarian and strong people manager to lead collection development and management, and service-related activities for the National Gallery of Australia’s Library & Archives. Specific areas of responsibilities include managing reference, acquisitions, circulation, preservation, and overall use of, and access to, the library’s collection. With your experience in aligning with best practice, you will mentor and develop a highly visitor-service oriented, responsive and professional team.
The National Gallery of Australia’s Research Library is one of Australia’s leading visual arts libraries and archives. The library holds over 200,000 books and exhibition catalogues, and many notable artist archives including Arthur Streeton and Family, Inge King, Mandy Martin and Mike Parr. As this is a newly created role, one of your primary responsibilities will be to lead a major transformation of the National Gallery’s library into a public-facing and accessible collection, including increased access to content through innovative programs.
This is a full-time, ongoing employment opportunity available within the Programs, Education & Research Library & Archives Department of the Curatorial and Programs Portfolio.
