(27 February 2018) The House of Commons Library has produced the Parliamentary Research Handbook for parliamentary officials who prepare research for parliamentarians. The handbook can be used as a self-study guide; to help services set and meet professional standards for research; and for staff training.
The handbook includes chapters on the fundamentals of parliamentary research; foundation skills and knowledge; sourcing and evaluating information; undertaking analysis; writing; using statistics, tables and graphs; impartiality; customer service; legislation briefings; quality control; and committee research.
The Association of Parliamentary Librarians of Asia and the Pacific (APLAP) has the story and links to the handbook.
