(8 August 2018) The 2018 Annual Conference for the Library Society of China and Chinese Library Exhibition was held in Langfang, Hebei province on 31 May and 1 June. The annual conference was organized by the Library Society of China and the People’s Government of Langfang Municipal under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and sponsored by the National Library of China (NLC), the National Public Culture Development Center, China Ancient Books Preservation and Conservation Association and the Department of Culture in Hebei Province.
The theme of the event is Library and Society: Sharing, Efficiency and Rule of Law. Apart from the opening and closing ceremony, there were themed discussions, academic sessions, exhibitions, librarians’ evening, etc.
This year’s annual conference has four highlights: demonstrate the value of library in social development; show the bright prospects of libraries and librarians; it reflected the cultures benefiting the people and organized various supporting activities; and opening up and stressing the importance of including both domestic and international involvement.
